After a weekender extravaganza with Jokkoo, an intimate session at Kwia before their closing (R.I.P.), and a brief summer break, setten event will be back at our favourite venue 90mil for its 11th edition on Sunday 13 September.

We try to make our every event special, but this one is extra special.

As a freeform experimental event series, we'll go more multidisciplinary this time with a live AV show by indisputably one of Ramallah"s most influential artists, Muqata'a, and an emerging filmmaker from Bethlehem, Fairouz Hasan. Fairouz Hasan's recently premiered short film which was scored by Muqata'a as well will be screened. In addition, a live music performance by our new friend, a trumpet player and electroacoustic wizard from NYC, Chris Ryan Williams is already making a return after he completely blew us away with his debut show in April. Our local unsung legend Alyabani (aka Shins-K) who booked Muqata'a to play in Berlin for the very first time back in 2016 on Sep 16 as the co-founder of AIWA! event series - almost exactly 10 years ago (!!!!!) and who introduced so many of us with each other is coming out of his "DJ retirement" to play his favourite tunes from around the world incorporating some effect pedals. An eclectic selector and a long time setten supporter V1V1S3KT1ON will grace the decks with some of her music collection too.

We're certain it will be the kind of evening that will stay in your heart for a long time.

False Vectors is a live audiovisual performance developed in collaboration between Muqata'a and Fairouz Hasan which was premiered at Monheim Triennale in 2025 following a residency at Villa am Greisbachsee in Monheim, Germany.

In Muqata´a's words: “Hasan uses microscopic images in an attempt of reconstructing what’s broken, and trying to put things back together – even though they’re already broken. So, to her, it’s a way of trying to understand this process and why. It obviously translates to our political and social reality in Palestine. The idea that things are broken and that there is a kind of reconstruction that’s always in place. And the question of what that means and what the psychological effects of this process are. (…) Her attention to the detail and the microscopic images relate to the way I work sonically as well, with how I focus on micro sounds.”

A Lovely Butterfly is a deeply personal journey in which the filmmaker turns her camera into a compass. Using lenses, maps, and faded archives, she navigates the fraught terrain between memory and reality to reconcile her complex feelings for her father, a man whose identity is forever marked by his imprisonment in Israeli jails.

[ Alyabani (aka SHINS-K) ] (DJ)

Berlin-based retired DJ, producer, composer, sound designer, and co-founder of the Arabic hip-hop event AIWA!, Alyabani aka SHINS-K returns for a one-off appearance at setten. For this special session, he'll dig deep into his record collection, travelling across sounds from different corners of the world, with a couple of effect pedals in the mix.


[ Chris Ryan Williams ] (LIVE)

Chris Ryan Williams is an artist and musician based in Brooklyn, NY whose work unfolds through electroacoustic composition and performance installation. His EP Live earned praise from Jazz Right Now and The Quietus for its “dazzling collaged pieces that ricochet between improvised passages and written material” (Peter Margasak, The Quietus). His debut LP Odu: Vibration II, praised by Pitchfork and named one of NPR’s Best New Albums, reimagines a journey through Plato’s Cave. Williams’ work has been performed and presented extensively across the U.S. and Europe, including at the Venice Biennale, Roulette Intermedium, Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Royal Danish Playhouse, National Sawdust, and Performa Biennial. He has received commissions from the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra, WasteLAnd, the American Composers Forum, and the International Contemporary Ensemble.


[ Fairouz Hasan ] (LIVE AV/ Short Film)

Fairouz Hassan is a Palestinian filmmaker, curator, and interdisciplinary artist based in Bethlehem. She holds a BA in Film Production (Directing) from Dar Al-Kalima University, Bethlehem, Palestine. Working across experimental cinema, documentary, essay film, installation, and live audiovisual performance, her practice investigates memory, political absence, imprisonment, and grief through archival material, fragmented imagery, and embodied observation.

Her most recent film, Lovely Butterfly (2026), is an intimate documentary tracing the emotional impact of her father's twenty years in Israeli prisons through the letters they exchanged during his imprisonment. The film had its world premiere at Visions du Réel in Switzerland, and was subsequently selected for the Short Film Corner and Rendez-vous Industry program at the Cannes Film Festival, Curtas Vila do Conde (Official Selection, Portugal). She is currently participated in FIDCampus at FID Marseille as an artist in residence.

Alongside filmmaking, Hassan works across installation and live performance. False Vectors (2025), a live audiovisual performance developed in collaboration with Muqata'a, premiered at Monheim Triennale following a residency at Villa am Greisbachsee in Germany. Rock Scissors (2025) was developed during the Mishkal residency at the Goethe-Institut in Ramallah. A Tree Fenced In (2025) was presented at Krupa Art Foundation in Wrocław, Poland.

As a curator, she organized We Are Not A Spectre (2025), a film program at Dar Jacir in Bethlehem, and served as short film curator for Ekrani i Artit (2026) in Shkodër, Albania.


[ Muqata'a ] (Live AV)

Muqata’a is an electronic musician and producer based in Ramallah, Palestine. His work combines sampled material, field recordings, synths, and fragments from radio into layered compositions driven by unstable rhythms and shifting tonal structures.

A founding member of the Ramallah Underground Collective (2002–2009), he is also part of the sound and image performance group Tashweesh alongside Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme. His solo albums include Hayawan Nateq (2013), La Lisana Lah (2017), Dubt Al-Ghubar (2017), Inkanakuntu (2018), and Kamil Manqus (2021).

His live sets are immersive and confrontational, layering textures, rattling bass, and momentary torrents of broken beats that disrupt and destabilize. His work explores memory, fragmentation, and transformation through sound.

 
[ V1V1S3KT1ON ] (DJ)

V1V1S3KT1ON works in hypnotic loops, rhythm folding back on itself until it transforms into something unfamiliar, a storm gathering force with every pass. Within the atmosphere they carry a sense of dissection ~ Cutting apart, rebuilding as myth, antagonizing cycles and twisting toward the unrecognizable.
