Yazan Alsabbagh with Bernd Oezsevim & Valentin Link featuring Shadi Ali & Basilius Alawad

Berlin-based clarinetist, composer, and producer Yazan Alsabbagh presents a concert where contemporary jazz, Arabic musical traditions, and free improvisation come together in a deeply personal musical dialogue. Together with drummer Bernd Oezsevim and double bassist Valentin Link, the ensemble performs original compositions alongside new interpretations inspired by the rich musical heritage of the Middle East. The music moves fluidly between lyrical melodies, spontaneous improvisation, and contemporary jazz, creating an intimate and dynamic concert experience.For this special performance, the ensemble is joined by two exceptional guest artists. Shadi Ali, a prominent voice in Syria's alternative music scene, brings his distinctive artistic language to the project as vocalist. Basilius Alawad, an acclaimed Syrian cellist, shares a lifelong musical connection with Yazan: both grew up on the same streets of Sahnaya, Syria, studied together from an early age, continued through the same conservatories, and eventually reunited in Berlin.This concert is more than a collaboration between outstanding musicians—it is a reunion of shared histories and artistic journeys and connecting memories.
