traveling without moving

*traveling without moving*
[_ˈtrævəlɪŋ wɪˈðaʊt ˈmuːvɪŋ_]
_verb phrase; also used as a noun phrase_

1. To be carried somewhere else in mind and spirit through sound, rhythm, and atmosphere while the body stays on the dance floor.

2. A dance night built around this experience, where music with a variety of vibes and energies takes the place of a ticket, a passport, and a suitcase.

3. _(figurative)_ A state of being fully elsewhere while fully present, in which the room stays the same but the place it feels like keeps changing.

*Usage note:* Despite the "without moving" in the name, the practice involves plenty of movement. The paradox is intentional: the body stays in one place and the mind goes on the trip.

*Example:* _"We didn't leave Funkhaus all night, but somewhere around midnight we were in Detroit, and by two we had landed in Rio. That's traveling without moving."_
