Scrap Yard

Scrap Yard is an event experience hosted between Cape Town and Berlin. Its creators are NSIMBI, a Cape Town-based DJ, Founder and Creative Director of the Clothing Brand NSIMBI.ON and Aunty Cece, a Berlin-based DJ and Community Creator. The name Scrap Yard comes from the meaning of ‘NSIMBI’ - ‘Made from Steel’. It is an ode to all survivors and endurers of sexual and domestic violence, reclaming power, rejecting shame and pushing to transform the creative industry. We want a shift away from domination and towards a space where womxn & allies can uplift each other and are safe and appreciated. Our core message is that the artists are the messengers, and not the stars the music – and additional forms of art – speaking for themselves and creating a space where guests see, respect and interact with each other.
