PHRE Festival: Gaitas y Tambores de San Jacinto + Pixvae + Superzona & mrReed feat. El Chente

PHRE will showcase local and international artists working in experimental pop music from Greece, Sudan, France, Colombia, Italy, Lebanon and other countries. The focus is not on world music, but on decolonial and progressive trends in contemporary music. The festival’s name is inspired by the Afrofuturist Sun Ra, who used the term ‘PHRE’ (pronounced free) to challenge genre boundaries.

Gaitas y Tambores de San Jacinto are among the most important bearers of Colombia’s traditional Gaita music. With hypnotic flutes, powerful rhythms, singing, and dance, they bring the vibrant culture of the Colombian Caribbean to life. Joined by additional musicians and dancers, a rich interplay of movement, rhythm, and collective energy unfolds on stage.
