Over the years, each release has been a new chapter in an ever-shifting soundscape, blending indie rock, dreampop and folk.Praised for blazing live shows and celebrated albums, such us Cannibal Dreams, named one of the best Italian underground albums of 2023, they have taken their sound across Europe and in the US, including the New Colossus Festival in New York City.In July 2025, Flame Parade entered Playpen Studio in Bristol with producer Ali Chant to record their forthcoming album.The result is a collection of textured, cinematic indie rock tracks, shaped by elegant vocal harmonies, with newfound depth, clarity and energy. ALICE GIFT (Berlin)[File under: Shoegaze, Dream Pop, Dark Wave, Post-Punk, Indie Rock, Glam]Alice Gift is the new project and alter ego of Berlin-based German-French artist Nicolas I.As a soundtrack composer (including for ‚B-Movie‘ and the Netflix Show ‚Elite‘) and with his band Velvet Condom, he has already achieved his first successes.2021 marked the birth of Alice Gift with the release of the debut album Alles ist Gift.Since then, the project has been active internationally, touring in France, Germany, Japan and Mexico, performing in New York, and sharing the stage with artists such as Actors, Clan of Xymox, She Past Away, Film School, Light Asylum and Austra.The debut album was created in collaboration with producer Joe Joaquin (Me & My Drummer, Tristan Brusch), while the single “Trance Park” received heavy rotation on Radio Eins.The music also found resonance in the art world: Gregor Hildebrandt named two works from his exhibition at the Mies van der Rohe Haus (Berlin) after the song “Samt und Stein”.This was followed by the EP Nothing Against Uplifting, But ..., released on the French label Icy Cold.Musically, Alice Gift moves between Chanson Noir and dreamy Noise Pop. Having grown up on the German-French border, a bicultural perspective shapes his artistic work, as does a strong connection to the European idea. With his distinctive, sensitive voice, Nicolas explores themes such as ideology, society, as well as personal experiences of anxiety and depression. Somewhere between melancholy and a sense of departure, a unique sound world emerges, searching for a way out of the darkness.Together with his accomplice Djamila, Alice Gift celebrates this transformation on stage – as a form of “flamboyance” that aims to turn melancholy into gold and silver.Live, Alice Gift delivers a toxic mélange of shoegaze, indie rock and darkwave, accompanied by Djamila Paris on keyboards and vocals, and recently joined by new guitarist Lena Lonley (ex-Sigue Sigue Sputnik).The band is currently working on a second album in collaboration with Tadklimp (The Notwist, Fenster), due for release in 2027, featuring artists such as The KVB and Twin Tribes.Alice Gift has always wanted to keep evolving musically – an ambition that is also clearly reflected on the new album. ANNA GROBCIRCLE OF LIGHT faërie rock opera by Anna GrobBisher konnte man sie bei den Leftovers den fünfsaitigen Bass schwingen sehen, aber die Ambitionen der Anna Grob gehen um einiges weiter: „Circle of Light“ ist der Titel ihres Solodebuts, ihrer ersten selbstverfassten Rockoper, deren 1. Akt nach langer eigenständiger Kompositions- und Textarbeit am 20. November 2026 als Konzeptalbum erscheint. „A faërie rock opera“, lautet der offizielle Untertitel, der uns in einer „mystischen Welt voller Magie, Licht und Schatten“ verortet, welche „im Spiegel unserer eigenen verborgen liegt.“ Ein kompletter Songzyklus also, der die Geschichte einer „der Finsternis“ Widerstand leistenden Stadt erzählt, regiert von einem fatal beratungsresistenten König und verraten durch einen illoyalen Maulwurf. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei das Motiv des CIRCLE OF LIGHT: ein Symbol für Zusammenhalt und Hoffnung inmitten der Dunkelheit. Aber ohne den Ausgang zu verraten: Noch ist nicht aller Tage Abend... [Zitat Robert Rotifer]Wir hören rasiermesserscharf abgehackte Akkorde, einen raumgreifenden Bass, einen klar akzentuierten Beat – und schließlich diese Stimme: „Go leave this place behind, set aside your pride“, singt Anna Grob im Refrain ihrer ersten Solosingle „The Messenger“ – mit eben jener gewaltigen Stimme, die zwischen Entschlossenheit und zauberhaft verrätselter Anmut changiert.Damit ist sofort klar: Anna Grob ist vollkommen woanders – und gleichzeitig genau dort, wo sie hingehört. Sie hat sich entschieden, in Fragen der Kreativität keine Grenzen mehr zu setzen:Auf herrlichste Weise verbindet sie Indie- und klassische Rockmusik mit dramatischen Moritaten, Vaudeville-Elementen und barocken Einflüssen – und fasert dabei niemals aus. [Zitat Torsten Groß]In seiner Lyrik begegnet uns das Werk unverschämt blumig, mit einem Fantasy-inspirierten Drang zu antiquierten Sprachformen.Es kommt jedenfalls nicht von ungefähr, dass sich eine Musikerin 17 Jahre nach „The Black Parade“ von My Chemical Romance bzw. 57 Jahre nach der ersten deklarierten Rockoper „Tommy“ von The Who noch einmal mutig in dieses gern als prätentiös verschriene Genre vorwagt. Vielleicht hat es ja was damit zu tun, dass die Rockoper in ihrer weit ausholenden Erzählform das genaue Gegenteil unserer für impulsive Häppchen-Konsumation geschaffenen, zeitgenössischen Streaming-Welt darstellt.
