EW LAB 3 is all about a love we share – African music, rhythms and dances. LAB 3 wants to spotlight this and is all about rhythms that resonate so deep in us. Together we want to learn and share.

Afrobot is a dedicated crate-digger and a respected figure in Rotterdam’s cultural scene. On his perpetual quest for danceable music—and via detours through house and disco—he has become a true connoisseur of ethnic pop music. As his name suggests, it is African music where he found his passion.
He has prepared a presentation for us that uses audio examples to take us on a musical journey across the African continent, allowing us to hear and discover how specific rhythms, lyrics, and instruments influence dance and social cohesion.

As DJ, producer, and the co-founder and curator of Amour Africain Berlin, pltfrm.030, and sownd.studio, he operates across a variety of complementary scenes. As an active member of the community, he is dedicated to championing it and bringing African music—and the artists behind it—to the forefront. Batida music, in particular, has captured his heart in recent years, and this is fun! His musical selections are consistently energetic and melodic, though he isn’t afraid to venture into rawer, darker territory.

Expect things to heat up during his back-to-back set with Panda Lassow; both are renowned for their high-energy performances and unique track selections—modern African electronic music at its best.
